#22 Cardinals Prevail in Defensive Struggle, 1-0

Teams Combine for Just 10 Shots in Game

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #22 Catholic's Niki Micciche scored the lone goal of the game 43 seconds into the third quarter from Emma Shallow in a 1-0 win over host Washington College in a non-conference field hockey game on Wednesday evening on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.  The Cardinals improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Shoremen fall to 2-3.

#22 Catholic 1 Washington College 0

How It Happened
- After a scoreless first half which saw each team take one shot, Catholic was awarded a penalty corner 35 seconds into the third quarter.  Kellie Caputo's corner eventually found Shallow on the right side and the pass was redirected from about six yards out by Micciche eight ticks later.
- Washington's Alexis Tackney got the home team's first shot on goal in the game with 6:10 left in the third quarter, but was saved by Abigail Kearney.  It would be 1-0 entering the fourth stanza.
- In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals had two shots on target early in the frame, but both got saved by Charlotte Schurman.
- The Shorewomen's last chance off of a penalty corner came with 4:18 left in the game on a shot by Tackney, but it went just wide to the right.  It was the final shot of the game for either side as the teams combined for just 10 shots on the night.
