CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore forward/midfielder
Brynn Balliet (Germansville, Pa./Southwestern Lehigh) scored the only goal of the game early in the third quarter from senior forward
Alexis Tackney (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) to give visiting Washington College a 1-0 win over host Widener on Saturday afternoon at Edith R. Dixon Field. The Shorewomen improve to 3-3 on the season, while the Pride drops to 2-3.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen took both shots in the first quarter, but neither were on target.
- In the second quarter, all three shots taken were blocked as the Pride blocked two and the Shorewomen blocked one. WC took a 4-1 shot advantage into halftime with the game scoreless.
- The Shorewomen scored on their only shot on goal 1:53 into the third quarter as Tackney's pass from outside the circle was redirected by Balliet inside the circle from about seven yards out. The score completed a transition play as it started after Washington knocked down a free hit by Widener.
- Widener's only shot on goal in the game came with 8:53 left in the third off the stick of
Olivia Deysher, but it was turned away by
Charlotte Schurman.
- The Pride got two more shots off the rest of the game, both in the third quarter, but both were off target. The Shorewomen had both shots in the fourth, but neither were on cage.

- This was the first meeting between the Shorewomen and Pride since 2000. From 1987-2000, the two teams met 12 times.
