Shorewomen 50-50 in Tri-Match Against Rutgers-Camden and Trinity (D.C.)

WC Sweeps Trinity After Falling to Rutgers-Camden in Four Sets

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in non-conference volleyball action.  In the first match of the day, visiting Rutgers-Camden downed host Washington, 3-1 (29-27, 25-18, 19-25, 28-26) and in the last match of the tri-match, the Shorewomen rebounded to broom Trinity (D.C.), 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-7).  The Shorewomen are now 4-9 on the season.

How It Happened
- In the first set with the score 27-27, an attack error by the Shorewomen gave the Scarlet Raptors a 28-27 lead.  Rutgers-Camden's Kaliyah Moss completed the first set win for the guests with a kill. 
- The Scarlet Raptors won the final four points of the second set to come away with a seven-point win.  Erica Nebrich started the run with a finisher and a combined block by Isabella Choice and Kaitlyn Parrish secured the set.
- Washington captured the last four points of the third set to win the third by six.  Angelina Schaber began it with a kill and Giselle Kleinbussink notched a kill to clinch the third set.
- Tied 26-26 in the fourth set, the Scarlet Raptors benefited from a pair of Shorewomen attack errors to win the set and match.

For The Shorewomen (3-9)
- Schaber (contest-topping 16 kills) Kleinbussink (13 kills and 11 digs), Sylvia Johnson (10 kills), Allison McKechnie (25 assists), Raegan Moran (17 assists), Logan Kenny (four blocks), Victoria Kile (13 digs), Jordan Fairchild (13 digs and four aces)
- Team hit .138 in the contest, totaled seven rejections and tallied up 10 aces.

For Rutgers-Camden (6-5)
- Dymond Free (13 kills), Moss (10 kills), JoAnna Andrews (21 assists), Sofia Granieri (13 assists), Mia Owens (13 digs), Choice and Nebrich (match-best five aces)
- The Scarlet Raptors hit .130 in the contest, while registering 11 blocks and 15 aces.

Washington College 3 Trinity (D.C.) 0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-7)

How It Happened
- After losing the first point to the Tigers, the Shorewomen rolled up the next 15 points to take a 15-1 lead on a Colette Franck kill.  McKechnie recorded a service ace to clinch the set.
- Leading 9-4, Washington went on an 8-0 run to take a 17-4 lead on an Anna Titter ace.  Izzy Diehl got the set clinching kill for the hosts.
- Washington led Trinity 13-5 in the third set before going on a 12-2 run to put away the set and match.  Gianna Romano recorded a kill to take home the set and contest.
 
For The Shorewomen (4-9)

- Franck (seven kills and hit 1.000), Diehl (seven kills and five aces), Moran (16 assists), McKechnie (13 assists), Titter (five aces and five digs)
 - Washington had a season-best 22 aces as the team hit .439.  The Shorewomen did not record a block.

For Trinity (D.C.) (0-7)
- Hermela Shimels (one kill and one assist), Jakiya Young (one kill), Danet Harris (one assist and one block), Leilani Hernandez (four digs)
- The Tigers hit -.313 while notching zero aces and a single block.

Notes
- Schaber was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Match against Rutgers-Camden and McKechnie was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the match versus Trinity.
- In the middle match, Rutgers-Camden swept Trinity 3-0 (25-6, 25-10, 25-4).
