Shorewomen Use Big Finish to Overcome Mules, 46-41

Kelliher Tallies 16 Points to Lead All Players and Boggs Grabs Personal-High 13 Rebounds

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College used an 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter to turn a 39-38 deficit into a 46-39 advantage to come away with a 46-41 win over visiting Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.  The Shorewomen are now 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial, while the Mules fall to 8-4 and 3-4 respectively.

How It Happened
- Tied 2-2, the Shorewomen scored eight straight points to take a 10-2 lead with 5:58 to go in the first quarter on a Karry Kelliher three-pointer.  Washington would lead 15-6 after one.
- Muhlenberg would outscore Washington 7-5 in the second quarter, but the home team took a 20-13 lead into halftime.
- In the third quarter, Peyton Berger would give the Shorewomen their biggest lead of the game of 14 points at 29-15 with 4:59 to go in stanza.  WC would take a 33-23 lead into the fourth.
- The Mules would score 12 of the first 15 points in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 38-35 with 2:34 left on a Katie McGrath free throw.
- Following a Washington empty possession, Muhlenberg would take its only lead of the game with 1:40 to go as McGrath canned a three-pointer and was fouled.  McGrath would go to the foul line and drain the free throw to give the guests a 39-38 lead as the Mules opened the quarter with a 16-3 run.
- On the next possession, Kelliher was fouled and stepped to the foul line and made both to put Washington back ahead for the rest of the game, 40-39, with 1:31 left. 
- After a Muhlenberg miss, Kaitlyn Boggs netted a jumper in the paint to make it 42-39 with 46 seconds left.
- McGrath would miss a three-pointer with 23 seconds left and Abby Meredith was fouled on WC's next possession.  She drained both from the charity stripe to give WC a 44-39 edge with 22 seconds to go.
- Meredith would block a McGrath three-point try and Kelliher grabbed the rebound and was fouled.  Kelliher stepped to the line to hit both with six ticks left to cap the 8-0 run and make it 46-39.
- Megan Winters made a jumper with three seconds left to make it 46-41 and round out the scoring.

For The Shorewomen (7-4, 4-2 CC)
- Kelliher (game-best 16 points; two blocks), Boggs (career-best and contest-high 13 rebounds; two blocks and two steals)
- Washington shot 29% from the field (14-for-48), 50% from three-point range (3-for-6) and 71% from the foul line (15-for-21).
- Washington held a 49-32 edge in rebounds and had 15 turnovers in the contest.
- The Shorewomen held a 8-0 edge in second-chance points and outscored the guests in points in the paint 14-4. 

For Muhlenberg (8-4, 3-4 CC)
- Rachel Saxton (11 points and three steals), Ava Connolly (11 points and three assists), Jenna Stockfeder (nine rebounds and two blocks)
- Muhlenberg shot 22% from the field (12-for-55), 16% from behind the arc (5-for-31) and 80% from foul line (12-for-15). 
- The Mules had eight turnovers, while outscoring the Shorewomen in transition points (2-0) and bench points (18-8).

Notes
- Kelliher was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.
- Washington held Muhlenberg to its lowest point total of the season (41) in the victory.
