COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Host Ursinus scored the game's last eight points to turn a 53-51 deficit into a 59-53 win over visiting Washington College on Tuesday evening at Helfferich Hall in Centennial Conference women's basketball action. The Bears are now 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial, while Shorewomen are now 7-5 overall and 4-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Bears scored jumped out to a 12-4 lead with 5:02 left in the first quarter on a
Madison Smith layup.
- Washington would respond with the next nine points to take a 13-12 lead with 2:14 to go on a
Kaitlyn Boggs layup.
- Tied at 15-15,
Natalie Mehl beat the buzzer to end the first to give Ursinus an 18-15 lead after one.
- In the second quarter, a Boggs free throw gave the Shorewomen a 28-24 lead with 3:22 to go before the Bears hit the Shorewomen with an 11-3 run to end the second to take a 35-31 lead into halftime.Â
Charlotte DiLello hit two from the foul line to make it 33-31 with 46 seconds to go and netted a layup with 24 ticks remaining to cap the first half scoring.Â

Kiersten Rose converted a layup to cut the Ursinus lead to 40-39 with 11 seconds to go after getting the offensive rebound. After Ursinus turned it over, Washington turned it over and
Ava Possenti got the ball and drained a three-pointer to beat the buzzer to give Ursinus a 43-39 lead heading into the fourth.
- The Shorewomen opened the fourth on a 11-4 run to take a 50-47 lead with 4:49 to go on a
Karry Kelliher layup.Â
- Trailing 53-51, Smith netted a free throw to start the game-closing 8-0 run to trim the lead to 53-52 with 2:42 to go.Â
- After a WC miss, Mehl would give the Bears the lead for good, 54-53, with 2:07 remaining on a layup.

Chinwe Irondi converted a lay-in with 1:26 left to give the Bears a 56-53 advantage.
- Ursinus would make three free throws in four tries the rest of the way to cap the scoring.

- WC outscored Ursinus in points off turnovers, 18-17, and second chance points, 16-5.

- Ursinus had 16 turnovers in the game and scored 10 of the game's 13 transition points. The hosts had a 26-13 cushion in bench points.

- Prior to tonight, Washington had won five straight over Ursinus, its longest winning streak in the series.
