Shorewomen Handle Green Terror for First CC Win, 5-0

Esposito Scores Twice While Campbell, Kunkel and McMahon Score Once Each

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College netted its first Centennial Conference win of the season with a 5-0 win over visiting McDaniel in a Centennial Conference field hockey game on Wednesday afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.  The Shorewomen improve to 6-4 and 1-1 in the Centennial, while the Green Terror falls to 2-7 and 0-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen got the only goal they needed with 4:35 left in the opening quarter when Kat Esposito redirected a pass from MaryCate Anson into the left side of the cage to make it 1-0.
- It stayed 1-0 until the early in third quarter when Emma Campbell pushed the lead to 2-0 on a shot from the right side from far out.
- WC put the game away with three goals in the fourth quarter.  Esposito scored 3:53 into the fourth from Campbell followed by scores by Samantha McMahon from Esposito and Natalee Kunkel tallying her first career goal respectively to round out the scoring.

- Scorer: Esposito (two goals and one assist), Campbell (goal and assist), McMahon (goal), Kunkel (goal), Anson (assist)
- Goalkeeper: Charlotte Schurman (0 saves, 0 goal allowed, 51:02), Abby Coppolella (0 saves, 0 goals allowed, 8:58)
- Washington had 26 shots and 15 penalty corners in the contest.
- Esposito was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.  Esposito became the fourth player in program history to score 40 career goals with her fourth quarter score.  She joins Laura Scimeca '05 (58), Chrystal Arrabal '00 (43) and Nicole Maccari '01 (41).
