Chestertown, MD– The Washington College Women's Soccer Team celebrated Senior Day with a win over the Mules of Muhlenberg 2-0. The Shorewomen outshot their opponent 37-3.
Washington College 2 Muhlenberg 0
How It Happened
- The Shorewomen outshot the Mules 19-1 in the first half.
- In the 13th minute of play, Kayla Streett's shot off a corner kick went wide left. 40 seconds later, Streett had another look at the net, but her shot went off the hands of the Mules' goalie. Sophie Kilbride was able to track down the rebounded ball and tried to tap the ball over the goalie, but her attempt was also saved by the Mules.
- Kilbride and Streett had similar, back-to-back shots in the 15th minute, but like their attempts before, both were unsuccessful.
- The Shorewomen finally saw the back of the net in the 43rd minute of play. Gina Phillips received a cross from Streett to the left side of the goal and her low shot just missed the gloves of the goalie and rolled into the right side of the net. The Shorewomen led 1-0 going into the half.
- Maddy Gaydon had a wide open look at the goal as it was a one on one opportunity with her and the goalie, but her shot went right to the hands of the keeper. Gaydon did not let it phase her as 40 seconds later, off a rebounded shot by Kilbride from Bridget Whiteside, Gaydon was able to slide one to the back of the net putting the Shorewomen up 2-0.
- That would be the last look at the net for either team as the Shorewomen rang victorious over the Mules 2-0.
