Diplomats Down Shorewomen in Three Sets

Stubbs Serves Up Match-Best Four Aces and Miller Leads All Players with 19 Digs

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Franklin & Marshall bested host Washington College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference volleyball action at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium.  The Diplomats improve to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 10-5 and 0-1 respectively.

How It Happened
- In the first set, Washington took a 22-21 lead on a service ace by Alexis Stubbs before F&M won the final four points of the set to win by three.  An assisted block by the Diplomats clinched the opening set that saw 10 ties and four lead changes.
- The Diplomats held a 20-19 advantage in the second set before rolling off five the final six points to take the second.  F&M clinched the set on an assisted rejection.    
-Trailing 24-19 in the third set, the Shorewomen won three straight points to cut the lead to 24-22 before the Diplomats finished off the set and match on a kill.

For The Shorewomen (10-5, 0-1 CC)
- Giselle Kleinbussink (nine kills), Alexis Stubbs (12 assists and match-best four aces), Alison McKechnie (11 assists), Mary Miller (contest-high 19 digs), Gianna Romano (two aces) 
- Team hit .130 in the contest, notched one rejection and served up seven aces.
- Stubbs was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Match.
