Shorewomen Basketball Bested Bison 61-49

Chestertown, MD– Washington College Women's Basketball took on the Bison of Gallaudet Saturday afternoon. The Shorewomen got out to a lead over the Bison in the second quarter and would never relinquish the lead.

How It Happened 

  • The score was all tied up 12-12 with two minutes to go in the first quarter until Karry Kelliher stole the ball and went coast to coast making the layup on the other end to put the Shorewomen up two. The Bison were able to go up on the Shorewomen by one after a made layup and free throw. 
  • With eight seconds to go in the quarter, Kelliher made a layup after an Abby Meredith steal gave the Shorewomen back the ball. The Shorewomen took the lead 16-15.  
  • The Shorewomen opened up the second quarter with an 8-2 run with four different players getting involved.  
  • Gallaudet got within four of the Shorewomen until Washington College's offense really got started. The Shorewomen led at the half 37-29. 
  • The Shorewomen scored four times in the third quarter and held their lead going into the last ten minutes, 45-36. 
  • Maggie Lawrence got the scoring going for the Shorewomen as she made a layup after a Meredith steal thirty seconds into the last quarter. 
  • The Shorewomen offense remained strong as they put it past Gallaudet and took the game 61-49.

The Shorewomen will be back in action against their first conference opponent Johns Hopkins on the road December 4th at 6 PM.
