The Saints Come Marching Through The Shorewomen Defense 46-42

Karry Kelliher records double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds

Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Women's Basketball Team battled Marymount Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Shorewomen held the lead until four minutes remained in the game. They fell 46-42.

How It Happened 

  • The Shorewomen scored first two minutes into the first quarter as Kiersten Rose scored a layup off an assist from Karry Kelliher.  
  • Kaitlyn Boggs tied the game up 4-4 as she had her turn at a made layup five minutes into the quarter. The Shorewomen followed that bucket up with an 11-4 run led by Emma Robinson with four points. The Shorewomen led at the conclusion of the first quarter, 15-8. 
  • Marymount was able to battle back and tie the score for the final three minutes of the second quarter. The score was at a standstill until Kelliher was fouled outside the three-point arc with .1 seconds left on the clock. She drained all three free throws pushing the Shorewomen up 23-20 heading into halftime.  
  • The first basket of the half put Marymount within one, 23-22. Sarah O'Leary made her first three-point bucket of her career with four minutes left in the quarter. The Shorewomen were up 26-22.
  • Marymount went on a 10-3 run to end the half up three, 32-29.  
  • The last quarter scoring was almost even, but Marymount was able to hold onto the lead and outscored the Shorewomen 14-13 in the final quarter. Kelliher led the Shorewomen scoring for the quarter with six points. The Shorewomen fell 46-42.

Up Next  
The Shorewomen are on the road for their last game before the new year. They will travel to St. Mary's City, MD to take on St. Mary's College of Maryland on Thursday, December 19th at 1 PM.
