CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College women's swim team was named to The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the 2023 Fall Semester. Teams were selected based on their Fall 2023 team grade point averages and represent 18,716 student-athletes. Out of the 461 Scholar All-America Teams, Washington College finished with another program high of third in the nation for Division III, boasting an outstanding 3.84 GPA.
Sophomore
Lauren Paules states, "our women's team is held to very high standards in and out of the pool and we strive to maintain both athletic and academic excellence. We are a unit that supports and uplifts one another while also holding each other accountable." Paules who currently has a perfect 4.0 GPA added, "I am so proud of the grit and hard work that this women's team exemplifies, and I am grateful that I get to be a part of it."
Caltech earned the highest team GPA (3.98). Claiming second was Manchester with 3.87.
Coach
Philip Quick quoted, "over the past three semesters, the Washington College Women Swim Team has turned heads and has shown the nation how high it performs in the classroom. As Lauren stated, its standard, as a team culture, is immensely high and is consistently reinforcing the team to strive for more when times get tough." Quick continued, "These women are constantly some of the most involved students on campus, hired as tutors, nominated as peer mentors and leaders throughout Washington College. To have the third highest GPA in the nation is an impressive accomplishment, but to do it twice is incredible."
The Shorewomen were third in Division III for the 2022 Fall Semester.
