Sophomore women's lacrosse player
Mia Salvatierra (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) is this week's Shorewoman of the Week. Salvatierra tallied a game-best six points on four goals and two assists, tying for contest-high in both categories in the Shorewomen's 23-11 season opening win over visiting Drew on Saturday as the 23 goals were a program record for most goals in a season opener.
Salvatierra scored the opening goal 1:58 into the game and added an assist on the next goal 82 seconds later to give Washington a 2-0 lead and it was a lead it would never relinquish. She beat the buzzer to end the second quarter on her second goal and fourth point to give the Shorewomen an 11-7 lead into halftime as she factored into both goals in the final 1:09 of the second to double the team's lead from two to four goals. The sophomore added two more goals in the second half as the squad broke a 41-year old record for most goals in a first game.
This is Salvatierra's first career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
