GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Host Gwynedd Mercy broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning courtesy of two errors by visiting Washington College and that proved to be the final score in a 3-1 win for the home side on Friday afternoon at Frank O. Genuardi Legends Baseball Field in non-conference baseball action. The Griffins are 1-0 on the season, while the Shoremen slip to 0-3.     Â

How It Happened
- The Griffins had runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the third when Nick Price hit a sacrifice fly to right to score
Sam Junker for the game's first run.
- Washington would tie it with a two-out infield single to shortstop in the top of the fourth by
Reese Hirsh that plated
Logan Yi.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Gwynedd Mercy took advantage of a pair of two-out errors by the Shoremen to score twice and lead 3-1. Junker scored on the first fielding miscue to make it 2-1 and Price came home on the other field error to give the home side a two-run lead after five.

Pete Kokinis' two-out single to shortstop in the top of the eighth allowed WC to get the tying run to the dish in
Chase Ruppel, but Ruppel grounded out to first to end the threat.

Mitchell Bramsway retired the Shoremen in order in the top of the ninth to end the game.
