Shorewomen Take Care of Owls, 62-28

Pluta Registers Double-Double of Game-Highs 16 Points and 12 Rebounds in Win

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The visiting Washington College women's basketball team used a 14-0 first quarter run to assert control of the contest in a 62-28 victory over host Bryn Mawr on Tuesday night in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at the Class of 1958 Gym.  The Shorewomen are now 11-10 overall on the season and 8-8 in conference play, while the Owls fall to 2-19 overall on the season and 0-16 in Centennial action.

How It Happened
- Washington led 2-1 with 7:48 to go in the first quarter before scoring the next 14 points to lead 16-1 with 50 seconds remaining in the quarter on a Kaitlyn Boggs layup.  The Shorewomen led 16-3 after one.
– After Serena Pluta scored the opening basket of the second quarter on a layup to make it 18-3 for WC, Bryn Mawr went on a 14-6 run to cut the lead to 24-17 with 2:59 left on a Michelle Jiang three-pointer.
- The Shorewomen would score seven of the final 10 points of the second to take a 31-20 lead into halftime.
- Leading 37-24 with 6:13 left in the third quarter on a basket by the Owls' Jessica Smith, the Shorewomen scored the final 11 points to lead 48-24 after three. 
- Washington outscored Bryn Mawr, 14-4, in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (11-10, 8-8 CC)
- Pluta (game-highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds), Boggs (15 points), Karry Kelliher (10 points and two blocks), Peyton Berger (three steals), Emma Robinson and Avery Thomas (three assists)
- WC shot 38% from the floor (28-for-73), 20% from three-point range (1-for-5) and 83% (5-for-6) from the foul line in the game.
- The Shorewomen outrebounded the Owls, 54-32, while turning it over eight times.
- WC outscored Bryn Mawr in points in the paint, 46-10, points off turnovers, 21-5, second chance points, 19-0, transition points, 10-7, and bench points, 14-6.

For Bryn Mawr (2-19, 0-16 CC)
- Smith (12 points), Daphne Becker-Sturm (11 rebounds and two blocks), Hannah Mack (three steals), Jiang (three assists)
- The Owls shot 21% from the floor (10-for-48), 25% from three-point land (5-for-20) and 43% from the foul stripe (3-for-7).
- Bryn Mawr had 18 turnovers in the game.

Notes
- Pluta has tallied four double-doubles in her last five games.
