FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Washington College baseball team opened its spring break trip in Florida by earning a split against Lasell in a doubleheader on Sunday at the Lawnwood Baseball Complex. The Shoremen scored three times down to their last out in game two to win 4-2 on a bases clearing double by sophomore infielder
Ty Everitt (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) in the top of the seventh inning. In game one, the Lasers came away with a 13-6 victory. Washington is now 1-8 on the season, while Lasell is 4-4.
Lasell 13 Washington College 6 (Game 1)
How It Happened
- Lasell got a pair of runs in the top of the second inning on a two-out base hit by
Tim Callahan that scored both
Pierce Clare and
Matthew Williams.
- Washington got one back in the bottom of the second on a two-out single by
Elias Philiposian that plated
Cole McGee.
- With one away in the top of the fifth, Clare doubled home both
Brad Edwards and
Scott Lyon to give the Lasers a three-run lead.
- The Shoremen got one back to cut the lead to 4-2 in the last of the fifth when
Tahir Parker stole third base and scored on a throwing error with one out.
- In the top of the sixth, Lasell blew the game open with nine runs with only one run earned due to three WC errors. Williams and
Bryan Baumann scored the first two runs on a throwing error by the Shoremen and Baumann scored the final run on a base hit by
Brad Edwards.
- WC got four in the bottom of the seventh, two coming on a double off the bat of
Cole McGee that chased in
Ty Everitt and
Logan Yi with one out.
For The Shoremen (0-8)
- Hitting: McGee (3-for-4, two RBI), Parker (two runs)
- Pitching:
Nico DiGrazio (loss 0-2, 4 1/3 innings, seven hits, four runs, four earned, four walks, four strikeouts)
- Washington had nine hits, drew four walks and had one reach via hit by pitch while leaving seven on base.
- The Shoremen had four errors in the game, leading to eight Laser runs.
For Lasell (4-3)
- Hitting: Callahan (3-for-4, four RBI), Clare (3-for-5, two runs, two RBI), Williams (2-for-4, three runs), Edwards (2-for-3, two RBI, two walks), Baumann (two runs and two RBI), Connor Freitas (2-for-5),
Scott Lyon (two runs)
- Pitching:
Jeremy Blackwood (win 1-0, six innings, seven hits, two runs, one earned, one walk, three strikeouts)
- The Lasers notched 15 hits, drew four base on balls and had one get on via hit by pitch as they left 11 on base.
- Lasell had one error in the game and led to a single Washington unearned run.

- Game one was delayed by two hours due to rain.
Washington College 4 Lasell 2 (Game 2)
How It Happened
- The Lasers took a 1-0 lead in the last of the second when
Christopher Bulk that scored Lyon with one out.
- Three innings later, Bulk socked a solo home run to give Lasell a 2-0 advantage.
- Washington got one run with one out in the top of the sixth on a bases loaded walk by Yi that forced home
Alex Dardaris to cut it to 2-1.
- The score remained 2-1 until two outs in the top of the seventh when Everitt roped a bases clearing double that scored
Zach Stolze, Dardaris and
Dino DiMauro.
- Lasell got the tying run to the plate in the last of the seventh with one out, but WC pitcher
Xan Wojie induced a ground out and a pop fly to end the game.
For The Shoremen (1-8)
- Hitting: Everitt (2-for-3, three RBI), Dardaris (two runs), Yi (two walks, RBI)
- Pitching:
Matt Herbert (five innings, eight hits, two runs, two earned, one walk, zero strikeouts),
Cayde Connelly (win 1-0, one scoreless inning, one hit), Wojie (save, one scoreless inning, one strikeout)
- Washington had six hits, worked out three free passes and had one get on via hit by pitch, while leaving four on base.
- The Shoremen had two errors in the game, but did not lead to a Lasell run.
For Lasell (4-4)
- Hitting: Bulk (1-for-2, home run, two RBI), Lyon (2-for-3, run), Callahan (3-for-4)
- Pitching:
Zachary Simone (six innings, three hits, one run, one earned, one walk, two strikeouts),
Ethan Bernardo (loss 0-2, three hits, three runs, three earned, one walk, one strikeout)
- The Lasers notched nine hits and drew one walk as they left six on base.
- Lasell had one error in game two, leading to no unearned runs for WC.

- Connelly got his first career win and Wojie notched his first all-time save in the win.
