Softball Splits In First Day Of Spring Break Games

Kissimmee, FL. – Softball splits a pair of games in first day of spring break action. They fell to Simpson in Game 1 7-4, and secured the win against Rutgers- Camden in Game 2, 3-2.

Game 1: Simpson 7 Washington College 4

How It Happened

Simpson scored three times in the first inning putting them up quickly 3-0. The Shorewomen didn't score until the fourth inning. 

Julia Weglarz was hit by a pitch to put her on base. After an error and a fielder's choice she advanced to home. A Mia Mavoides single allowed Neveah Unzueta to score and then a Sydney Skrzypiec single got Jenna Harper home, putting the Shoremen up 4-3. 

A sac fly and then a home run by Simpson's Maddje Luderman in the next inning gave Simpson the lead back 5-4. Simpson's final scoring run came in the sixth inning. Alexis Ehlers singled, Megan Heidelbauand advanced to second, and Ashlyn Steen ran home. Ehlers then stole second to put her in scoring position. Luderman had a sacrifice line drive allowing Heidelbau to score. Simpson ended the game 7-4.

Game 2: Rutgers-Camden 2 Washington College 3

How It Happened
The Shoremen got it started in the first inning. Hanna Solge singled to third base to start the game, she then stole second. On a wild pitch she advanced to third putting her in scoring position for Julia Weglarz who singled and allowed Solge to score. Neveah Unzueta singled to right field allowing Weglarz to advance to third. Lily Cook doubled in her first at bat of the game sending Weglarz home. 

Rutgers-Camden didn't score until the third inning as a batter hit by a pitch advanced Bella Lynch to home putting them on the board. 

In the top of the fourth, a sac fly by the Shorewomen's Becca Foulk allowed Mia Mavoides to score after she got on base as a pinch runner for Grace Goforth who doubled the first at bat of the inning.

Rutgers-Camden scored once more in the bottom of the fourth but it was not enough as the Shoremen walked away with a win 3-2.
