FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Washington College baseball team split a pair of games on Friday at the Lawnwood Baseball Complex. The Shoremen won the first game of the day by scoring a season-best in runs in a 19-4 win over Thiel that concluded after seven innings due to the 10-run rule before falling to College of Wooster in the second contest, 14-6. Washington is now 3-11 on the season, while Thiel is 1-6 and College of Wooster is 9-3.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen took control of the game early with a five-run bottom of the first after there were two outs.
Zach Stolze doubled to right-center for the first two runs, plating
Logan Yi and
Chase Ruppel.
Pete Kokinis would make it 4-0 on a triple to right field to drive in both Stolze and
Alex Dardaris. Kokinis would score the fifth and final run of the inning on a base hit up the middle by
Tahir Parker.
- Yi would cap and highlight a six-run last of the third with a three-run home run to center to also score
Ty Everitt and
Will Turner to give WC an 11-0 advantage over Thiel after three.
- The Shoremen scored eight times in the bottom of the fourth and the Tomcats would push four runs across in the top of the sixth to provide the final margin.
For The Shoremen (3-10)
- Hitting: Yi (4-for-4, five RBI, three runs, home run), Turner (3-for-5, three RBI, two runs), Stolze (2-for-3, three RBI), Parker (2-for-2, two runs), Kokinis (1-for-1, two walks, three runs and two RBI), Dardaris (three runs), Everitt (two runs)
- Pitching:
Matt Herbert (win 1-1, six innings, seven hits, four runs, four earned, one walk, three strikeouts)
- Washington had 16 hits, drew nine walks and had three reach via hit by pitch while leaving 10 on base.
- The Shoremen had zero errors in the game.
For Thiel (1-6)
- Hitting:
Joey Schimizzi (1-for-2, three RBI, run)
- Pitching:
Brady Rzodkiewicz (loss 0-2, two-plus innings, eight hits, seven runs, seven earned, four walks, two strikeouts)
- The Tomcats totaled seven hits, drew two base on balls and had two get on via hit by pitch as they left five on base.
- Thiel had four errors in the game, but only led to one Washington unearned run.
Notes
- Washington has had three games this week scoring 13 or more runs. Team scored 13 in a win over Westfield State on Monday and dented the dish 17 times against Earlham yesterday.

How It Happened
- With one out in the top of the second, the Shoremen took a 1-0 lead on a one out sacrifice fly to right by
Tahir Parker that plated Stolze.
- The Fighting Scots tied it in the bottom of the second on a
Nick Pett double with one away to score
Colin Leslie.
- Turner scored on a fielder's choice with one out in the top of the third to give Washington a 2-1 edge.
- Wooster would tally four in its half of the third to take a 5-2 lead. With nobody out,
Ryan Kramer doubled home both
Grant Mitchell and
Eli Westrick to give the Fighting Scots a one-run lead. Two batters later, Leslie singled home Kramer to make it 4-2 and one out sacrifice fly by
John Panstares chased in
Zack Barienbrock to cap the four-run frame.
- Washington got two back in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4. Stolze scored Turner on a base hit for the first run with one out and the next hitter,
Drew Kinsey drove in Yi on a groundout to shortstop for the second run.
- Pett gave the Fighting Scots a 6-4 lead with one out single to score Barienbrock in the last of the fifth.
- Barienbrock made it 7-4 on a two-out single to score Mitchell with two away in the bottom of the sixth.
- In the bottom half of the seventh, Wooster broke the game open with a six-run inning to take a 13-4 lead. Kramer and Panstares both had a two-run single to highlight the inning.
- WC scored once in the top of the eighth and ninth, while Wooster scored one in the last of the eighth to provide the final margin.
For The Shoremen (3-11)
- Hitting: Yi (3-for-5, two runs), Turner (2-for-5, two runs), Kinsey (2-for-3, two RBI), Stolze (2-for-5, two RBI)

- The Shoremen had three errors in the game, leading to five runs for the Fighting Scots.
For College of Wooster (9-3)

- The Fighting Scots notched 15 hits, drew four walks and had one get on via hit by pitch as they left seven on base.
- Wooster had one error in the game, leading to a single unearned run for WC.
Notes
- It was the first time since 1994 that the Shoremen and Fighting Scots played in baseball. 30 years ago Wooster won a doubleheader by scores of 11-3 and 12-11.
