#4 Sea Gulls Get Past Shoremen in Final Trip to the Plate, 8-5

Turner Socks Two-Run Homer for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #4 Salisbury's Roman March delivered the go ahead hit, a two-run pinch hit triple with one out in the top of the ninth and would score on a throwing error on the play, to break a 5-5 tie in an 8-5 win over host Washington College on Friday afternoon at Athey Baseball Park in non-conference baseball action.  The Sea Gulls improve to 15-3 on the season, while the Shoremen are 4-14.

How It Happened
- Salisbury scored on a one-out double down the left field line by Tim Petrucelli that scored Andrew Kell in the top of the first inning for the game's opening run.
- The Shoremen tied in the bottom of the first on single to center with one away by Chase Ruppel that plated Will Turner.
- In the top of the fifth, Dom Frigiola would launch a grand slam over the left field fence with two away to give the Sea Gulls a 5-1 lead.  Scoring ahead of him were Petrucelli, Dylan Winebrenner and Danny Sheeler.
- Washington would get two back in its half of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3.  With two outs, Turner singled to left-center to score Drew Kinsey to cut it to 5-2.  On the play, the throw to try to throw out Ty Everitt at third got away and would allow Everitt to score to trim the lead to two.
- Turner would tie the game at 5-5 in the last of the seventh on a two-run homer to left on the first pitch to also score Dino DiMauro.
- The score remained tied until the top of the ninth when March with runners on first and second socked a triple to the fence in left field to score both Sheeler and Ben Anderson to make it 7-5.  On the play, the Shoremen tried to throw out March at third, but the ball got away and March was able to score to give the Sea Gulls a three-run lead.
