Fords Too Much for Shoremen, 16-7

Carrigan Tallies Two Goals and Two Helpers for WC

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Host Haverford jumped out to a 10-2 halftime and never trailed on its way to a 16-7 win over visiting Washington College in Centennial Conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Swan Field.  The Fords are now 6-4 on the season and 2-0 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen are 3-6 and 1-1 respectively.

How It Happened
- Roman West scored 19 seconds into the game to give Haverford a 1-0 lead and 1:36 later Reid Tietjen scored from Jonathan Moon to make it a two-goal lead for the Fords.
- Washington got onto the board with 11:41 left in the first quarter on a Connor Garrison tally from Cam Carrigan.
- The Fords scored the final two goals of the opening quarter to lead 4-1 after 15 minutes as Will Graves scored unassisted on the man-up with 1:56 to go to round out the scoring in the first.
- After Philip Passalaqua tallied a goal 33 seconds into the second quarter to make it 5-1, Luke Brennan answered for the Shoremen from Cory Morgan to trim the lead to 5-2.
- Haverford would score the final five goals of the second to take a 10-2 lead into halftime.  Evan Wolpert scored the first and final goals of the five with 12:53 and 7:03 to go respectively in the second.
- In the third, the Fords outscored the Shoremen 2-1 to lead 12-3 after three.
- WC got the first two in the fourth to cut the lead to 12-5 with 12:18 remaining on a Carrigan goal from Logan Trombley.
- That's as close as the Shoremen would get as the home side would outscore the Shoremen 4-1 the rest of the way to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (3-5, 1-1 CC)
- Scoring: Carrigan (two goals and two assists), Trombley (goal and helper)
- In Goal: Colin Gray (23:35, 10 goals allowed, four saves), Will Charvala (36:25, six goals allowed, four saves)
- Jack Winters (three caused turnovers) and Gabe Velasquez (five ground balls).
- The Shoremen were 23-for-28 in clears in the contest and was 0-for-3 on the man-up.
- Washington had 19 turnovers, while causing nine Haverford turnovers and picked up 29 ground balls.

For Haverford (6-4, 2-0 CC)
- Scoring: Moon and Tietjan (three goals and assist), Wolpert (three goals), Graves (two scores), Passalaqua, D'Andre Chaney and Matt Richards (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Jacob Abraham (60:00, seven goals allowed, 20 saves)
- Teddy Carlin (18-for-27 on face-offs and 12 ground balls) and West (three caused turnovers)
- The Fords were 27-for-30 in clears, 2-for-2 in man-up situations and turned it over 23 times, while notching seven caused turnovers.
- Haverford outshot WC 41-38 and scooped up 51 ground balls.

Notes
- The Shoremen opened conference play with two road games, winning 16-9 at McDaniel on Saturday.
