Baseball Downed By Red Devils In First Conference Doubleheader

Chestertown, MD  – Baseball plays two sevens Saturday afternoon as they fall to Dickinson 17-6 and 13-3 in their conference opener.

GAME 1: Washington College 17 Dickinson 6 (7 innings)
How It Happened
  • The Red Devils scored first in the top of the second inning. A Christian Kim single to right field allowed Kayden Sigmon to score after he singled to third base. 
  • The Shoremen scored in the bottom of the second inning after Zach Stolze singled to center field. He was able to run home off a Reese Hirsh sac fly. The Shoremen tied it up 1-1.
  • Dickinson took over in the top of the third scoring six runs off of three hits. 
  • Logan Yi doubled to right field allowing Will Turner to score after he singled to the shortstop. The Shoremen trailed 2-7.
  • Drew Kinsey homered in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to 7-3. The Shoremen were able to double their score in the bottom of the seventh on a Yi 2 RBI single and a bases loaded Hirsh walk, but it was not enough as the Shoremen fell to the Red Devils in seven innings 17-6.

GAME 2: Washington College 17 Dickinson 6 (7 innings)

How It Happened
  • Dickinson scored four runs in the first inning off of four hits. 
  • The Shoremen scored for the first time in the bottom of the fifth as Will Turner singled to second base to send Pete Kokinis home after he singled to left field. Logan Yi doubled to right field clearing the bases and advanced to third base the next at bat. The Shoremen still trailed 12-3.
  • Dickinson scored once more in the top of the seventh putting them up 13-3. 
  • The Shoremen were not able to score in the bottom of the seventh and lost after seven due to the conference's 10 run double header rule.
