BALTIMORE, Md. – Host #13 Johns Hopkins scored the game's final five runs to overcome a 6-3 deficit in an 8-6 comeback win over visiting Washington College on Friday afternoon at Bob Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium in Centennial Conference baseball action. The Blue Jays improve to 15-6 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen drop to 5-19 and 0-3 respectively.     Â

How It Happened

Dillon Souvignier gave Johns Hopkins a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with a two-out, three-run home run to right-center to score
Alex Shane and
Caleb Cyr.
- The lead was short lived as the Shoremen scored three times in the top of the fourth to tie it. With one away,
Zach Stolze singled through the left side to score
Will Turner for Washington's first run. The next hiter,
Chase Ruppel singled through the left side as well to chase in
Logan Yi and the lead was reduced to a run.Â
Cole McGee would then drop a bunt on a squeeze play and beat the throw to first as Stolze scored to level the contest at 3-3.Â
- In the top of the fifth the Shoremen netted three runs to take a 6-3 lead.Â
Pete Kokinis would score during the run down of another runner with nobody out to give WC its first lead of the game, 4-3. With one away, Stolze hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Turner for a two-run advantage. Ruppel would then serve a two-out base hit to left-center to plate Yi to give the road side a three-run lead.
- The Blue Jays got one back in the last of the fifth on a one-out sacrifice fly to center by Souvignier to scored Cyr to make it a two-run game.
- Johns Hopkins would retake the lead the lead with a three-run bottom of the sixth to hold a 7-6 edge. A one out double down the right field line by Souvignier would score both
Isaiah Winikur and
Matthew Cooper to square the game at 6-6 and the next batter,
Shawn Steuerer hit a sac fly to center to score Cyr and give the home squad a one-run lead.

Dylan Whitney scored the last run of the game in the bottom of the seventh on a one out infield single to shortstop by Winikur to make it 8-6.
- Washington had the go ahead run at the plate with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, but Hopkins' pitcher
Bearden Awadzi got Ruppel to strike out swinging to end it.

- Washington had 10 hits, drew six walks and had three players reach on hit by pitch while leaving nine on base.Â
- The Shoremen totaled two errors in the game, leading to one unearned run for the Blue Jays.
