Men's Lacrosse Falls To Mary Washington, 12-10

Fredericksburg, Va. – The Shoremen fall to Mary Washington Wednesday afternoon on the road, 12-10.

How It Happened
  • Washington out scored the Eagles in the first period 4-3. Connor Garrison put the Shoremen on the board first off an assist by Luke Brennan five minutes into the first period. Mary Washington had a quick answer as a shot from Dave Votapek hit the back of the net seven seconds later. 
  • The Eagles would score twice more before the Shoremen would answer with three goals in a minute and ten seconds. Two of those goals came from Mac Hale and the other to Garrison. 
  • The Eagles' James Milligan scored within the first two minutes of the period off an assist from Reece Stone. Washington only had three shots in the second one of which went in for Grant Matthews, 19 seconds left in the period. Washington headed into halftime tied with the Eagles 5-5. 
  • Washington's Tuck LeVanis was the first scorer of the half off an assist from Ben Dickinson. The Eagles controlled the scoring for most of the period until three minutes left when Garrison scored for the Shoremen when they were a man up.
  • Two goals in the first two minutes put the Eagles up to start the fourth. The Shoremen scored three times, including two from Brennan, but it was not enough as they fell to the Eagles, 12-10.

  • Scoring: Jackson Popeck (3 goals, 1 assist), Reece Stone (2 goals, 1 assist), Bryce Ridge (2 goals) 
  • In Goal: Wyatt Martin (60:00, 10 goals allowed, 10 saves)
Notes
  • This was only the second meeting between the two teams. The first matchup was in 2023 in Chestertown where the Shoremen secured the win 14-6.
  • Dickinson leads the Shoremen in goals this season with 8 and Garrison is not far behind him with 7.
