Yellow Jackets Overcome Shoremen with Mid-Game Run, 13-10

Dickinson Scores Game-Topping Four Times for WC

ASHLAND, Va. – Host Randolph-Macon used a 5-0 run during the second and third quarters to turn a 6-4 deficit into a 9-6 lead on its way to a 13-10 win over visiting Washington College in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Day Field.  The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-0 on the season, while the Shoremen drop to 1-4.

How It Happened
- Down 2-1, Ben Dickinson scored three straight goals for Washington to give the Shoremen a 4-2 lead with 1:47 to go in the first quarter.  The Shoremen led 4-3 after one quarter.
- Nicky Bond would give the away team a 6-4 lead with 7:03 remaining in the second quarter.
- Randolph-Macon would score the final two goals of the second to tie at 6-6 at halftime.  Logan Sinsebox leveled the game for the Yellow Jackets with 4:40 left before halftime.
- In the third quarter, Avery Tankersley gave Randolph-Macon its first lead since the first quarter, 7-6, with 12:25 to go with Sinsebox netting the assist.  The Yellow Jackets scored the next two to take a 9-6 lead with 9:29 remaining on a JT Harvey score that capped a 5-0 run.  Harvey's tally came just 16 ticks after Austin Payne made it 8-6 from Jack Smith.
- The two teams traded a pair of goals and the home side took an 11-8 lead heading into the fourth.
- Luke Brennan opened the fourth quarter scoring for the Shoremen from Mac Hale with 13:51 to go in the contest.
- Randolph-Macon would score the next two to take a 13-9 lead with 59 seconds left by Jack Smith from Ryan Pritchard before Brennan scored one more time from Hale in the final minute to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (1-4)
- Scoring: Dickinson (contest-best four goals), Bond (two goals and one assist), Brennan (two goals), Hale (two assists)
- In Goal: Colin Gray (60:00, 13 goals allowed, nine saves)
- Ryan Poston (two caused turnovers)
- Gabe Velasquez went 12-for-24 in face-offs and scooped up nine ground balls.
- Washington was 21-for-22 in clears in the contest and was 1-for-4 on the man-up.
- Washington had 21 turnovers, while causing seven Randolph-Macon turnovers.

For Randolph-Macon (6-0)
- Scoring: Smith (game-highs of four assists and six points; two goals), Payne (three goals and one assist), Sinsebox (two goals and two helpers), Tankersley (two scores), Pritchard (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Jack Twomey (60:00, 10 goals allowed, 11 saves)
- Will Robertson won 10-of-19 face-offs in the contest as the home side won 14-of-27, and Brodie Kent led all players with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.
- The Yellow Jackets were 20-for-23 in clears, 2-for-4 in man-up situations and turned it over 18 times, while notching 19 caused turnovers.
- Randolph-Macon held a 39-32 advantage in shots and 32-28 edge in ground balls.

Notes
- It was the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools and the first at Randolph-Macon.  The 1930, 2021 and 2023 meetings took place at Washington College, while the 2022 and 2024 contests were at Randolph-Macon.
