Blue Jays Slip By Shoremen 5-4.

Chestertown, MD  – Baseball topped by #13 Johns Hopkins by only one point in Wednesday afternoon conference contest.

How It Happened
  • The Blue Jays scored first in the top of the first as their second batter doubled to right field allowing their first batter, D. Whitney scored after he singled to shortstop in his at bat.
  • The Shoremen scored in the bottom of that same inning as a Drew Kinsey ground out to shortstop allowed Will Turner to score, tying up the game 1-1. 
  • Washington took the lead in the bottom of the third thanks to another Kinsey RBI. Turner and Logan Yi both singled to start the inning. Kinsey also singled, sending Turner to home and Yi to advance to third. Chase Ruppel's sacrifice fly in his at bat allowed Yi to cross home plate. The Shoremen led 3-1. 
  • A Johns Hopkins' homer in the top of the fourth allowed two runs to score and tied the game up 3-3. 
  • The next score came from the Blue Jays in the top of the seventh. A triple to center batted a run in and Hopkins took the lead 4-3. 
  • The Shoremen tied it up once again after a Zach Stolze singled to right field, sending Turner home after he doubled to left field three at bats earlier. This would be the last run scored for the Shoremen as they fell to Hopkins 5-4.
