CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #1 Salisbury took both ends of a non-conference softball doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at the Washington College Softball Field. The Sea Gulls won game one, 8-2, and took the second game, 5-0. The Sea Gulls improve to 30-1 overall, while the Shorewomen fall to 19-16-1.
#1 Salisbury 8 Washington College 2 (Game 1)
How It Happened
- Salisbury got two runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead for good.
Carrie Jacoby scored on a throwing error for the game's opening run with nobody out.
Camille Jones would come home from third on a throwing miscue to give the Sea Gulls a 2-0 lead.
- With one out in the top of the third,
Emily Challender scored on a squeeze bunt by
Meghan Reed to make it 3-0. The next batter Jacoby socked a two-run double to right-center to chase in both
Abby Mace and Reed to extend the lead to 5-0.

Sam Flowers scored on a two-out wild pitch to give the guests a six-run advantage in the top of the sixth.
- The Shorewomen got on the board with two in the last of the sixth.
Jenna Harper scored on a base hit up the middle by
Navaeh Unzueta for Washington's first run and the next hitter
Becca Foulk worked out a bases loaded walk to plate
Lilly Cook to trim it to four.
- Salisbury got two in the top of the seventh to provide the final margin.
For The Shorewomen (19-15-1)

- Pitching:
Brynn Balliet (loss 9-7, five innings, eight hits, five runs, four unearned, one walk, seven strikeouts)
- Washington committed three errors in game one, but leading to two Salisbury runs.
- The Shorewomen had seven hits and worked out three walks as they stranded eight four on base.
For #1 Salisbury (30-1)
- Hitting: Jacoby (3-for-4, two RBI, run), Mace (2-for-4, two runs), Challender (2-for-3, walk, run), Flowers (2-for-3, run)
- Pitching:
Nicole Ortega (win 15-1, three scoreless innings, two hits, zero walks, four strikeouts)
- Salisbury had no errors in the opener.
- The Sea Gulls had 12 hits and worked out a walk, while stranding five on base.

#1 Salisbury 5 Washington College 0 (Game 2)
How It Happened
- Mace would give the Sea Gulls the only run they needed on a two-out first pitch home run to left-center in the top of the third to make it 1-0.
- Natalie Paoli would give Salisbury a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a one-out solo homer to center.
- The Sea Gulls would score three two out runs in the top of the fifth to extend the advantage to five. Mace doubled to right-center to score Challender for a 3-0 lead. Mace would come home on a fielding miscue for a four-run advantage and Jacoby scored from first on a Reed double to cap the scoring in the frame and game.
For The Shorewomen (19-16-1)
- Hitting:

- Pitching:
Lexi Barnhart (loss 8-7, five innings, seven hits, five runs, three earned, two walks, three strikeouts)
- The Shorewomen had three hits in the game and two eight walks as they left seven on base.
- WC had one error in the field, leading to two unearned runs.
For #1 Salisbury (30-1)
- Hitting: Mace (2-for-4, two runs, two RBI, home run), Paoli (1-for-2, walk, home run), Reed (2-for-4, RBI)
- Pitching:
Sydney Adolfson (win 4-0, four innings, one hit, zero runs, zero walks, zero strikeouts),
Lindsey Windsor (save 1, three innings, two hits, zero runs, two walks and three strikeouts)
- The Sea Gulls had eight hits, worked out two walks and had one get on via a hit by pitch as they left six on base.
- Salisbury committed two errors in the field, leading to zero runs for Washington.

- Barnhart was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.
- Salisbury head coach Lacey Lord was the Shorewomen's head coach from 2009-20, leading the team to seven Centennial Conference Tournaments, three trips to the tournament final and the 2013 conference crown.
