CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College topped visiting #20 Gettysburg 18-14 on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium to clinch a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time since 2015. The Shoremen, who cap the regular season at 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial, clinched their spot when #6 Swarthmore topped Haverford, 17-7. The Bullets finish their regular season at 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference will return to Chestertown on Tuesday for the conference tournament first round game as the five seed. Game time will be announced on Monday.

How It Happened
- Washington led 5-4 before scoring twice in the final minute of the first quarter to lead 7-4 after one.
Cam Carrigan scored with 46 seconds left in the quarter and
Ben Dickinson netted a score with 3.6 seconds to go.
- Gettysburg would score the first three goals of the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7 with 11:37 to go before halftime on a
Quinton Mather goal from
Stokes Myers.
- The Shoremen would score three of the final four goals to lead 10-8 at halftime with
Luke Brennan scoring from Carrigan with 31 seconds before the break to put the home side up two.
- In the third quarter, the Shoremen outscored the Bullets 4-1 to take a 14-9 advantage heading into the fourth.
Trevor Ivatts scored with 3:22 left to give the home standing squad a five-goal cushion heading into the last stanza.

Parker Barta would give the Shoremen their biggest lead of the game, 17-11, with 6:57 to go in the fourth.

- Charvala was named Goose Nation TV Shoremen Player of the Game.
- Washington is in the conference tournament for the 14th time in program history as the tournament started in 2001. The last time the Shoremen made the tournament was in 2015.
- It was the first win for WC over Gettysburg since a 20-7 win in the semifinal round of the 2014 conference tournament in Chestertown. The Bullets had won the prior nine encounters.
- Today was the first time since February 25, 2017 that the Shoremen beat ranked team. In 2017, the team beat #15 Washington and Lee, 11-9.
- This afternoon was Military Appreciation Day as a big flag was unfurled at halftime to honor veterans.
