Charvala Turns Away 15 Shots

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #6 Dickinson scored all four goals in the fourth quarter to pull away from host Washington College in a 12-7 win in Centennial Conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.  The Red Devils improve to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen are now 3-8 and 0-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- Luke Whalen would give Dickinson a 2-1 lead with 3:30 to go in the first quarter and that would be score after 15 minutes.
- Washington would score three of the first four goals of the second quarter to take a 4-3 lead with 11:10 to go on a Tom Merritt goal.
- After Ben Dickinson gave the Shoremen a 5-4 lead with 7:42 to go in the second on a pass from Cory Morgan, the Red Devils would score the final three of the quarter to take a 7-5 lead at halftime.  Owen Porter tied it at 5-5 from Skyler Schluter with 5:23 to go and Liam Carney would put the visitors ahead for the rest of the game 75 seconds later, 6-5.  Mac Childs gave Dickinson a two-goal lead into intermission on an unassisted goal with 1:58 left.
- Sascha Gannon lifted the curtain on the third quarter scoring with 12:56 to go to put Dickinson ahead 8-5.
- The Shoremen scored the last two goals of the third to trim the lead to 8-7 with 1:16 left on a Ben Dickinson score.
- That's as close as WC would get as the road side outscored the home side in the fourth 4-0.  Schluter opened the scoring from Matt Thurston with 10:47 to go and closed the scoring from Carney with 3:38 remaining.

For The Shoremen (3-8, 0-3 CC)
- Scoring: Dickinson (two goals and assist), Grant Matthews (two goals)
- In Goal: Will Charvala (62:32, 12 goals allowed, 15 saves)
- Aidan Wilson (career-high three caused turnovers), Connor Garrison and Gabe Velasquez (three ground balls)
- Washington was 15-for-19 in clears in the contest and 0-for-3 in man-up situations.
- The Shoremen had 16 turnovers, while causing 14 Dickinson turnovers.

For #6 Dickinson (10-1, 3-0 CC)
- Scoring: Schluter (game-bests of three goals, four assists and seven points), Gannon (two goals), Carney and Owen Porter (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Patrick Scarborough (42:31, seven goals allowed, nine saves), Rocco Bognet (17:29, zero goals allowed, two saves)  
- John McKee (17-for-21 on face-offs and a game-high 10 ground balls), Xander Usich (three caused turnovers)
- The Red Devils were 15-for-19 in clears, 1-for-3 in man-up situations and turned it over 21 times, while notching nine caused turnovers.
- Dickinson held a 46-40 advantage in shots and held a 33-19 edge in ground balls.
- The guests went 17-for-22 at the X for the contest.

- Ben Dickinson was named Goose Nation TV Shoremen Player of the Game.
