Laubach Ties Program Mark for Career Draws as WC is Bested by #6 Gettysburg in Centennial Semifinal, 20-6

Senior Wins Game-Best 10 Draw Controls to tie Emily Hubley ’15 with 212 All-Time Draws

Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Host #6 and top seed Gettysburg led 8-1 after the first quarter on its way to a 20-6 over visiting fifth seeded Washington College on Friday afternoon at Clark Field in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament.  The Bullets move to 16-2 on the season and advance to Sunday's championship against the winner of third seeded Haverford and second seeded Franklin & Marshall, which is currently going on, while the Shorewomen finish their season at 11-7.

In the game, senior midfielder Abby Laubach (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Central) won a game-best 10 draw controls and finishes with 212 career draw controls, tying Emily Hubley '15 for the most won by a Washington College player. 

#6 Gettysburg 20 Washington College 6 (Centennial Conference Tournament Semifinal)

How It Happened
- Gettysburg scored twice in a 13-second span to take a 2-0 lead with 11:32 left in the first quarter on a Julia Daly goal just 13 ticks after Daly found Jordan Basso for the first goal.
- The Bullets would take a 5-0 lead with 7:35 to go in the first on a free position goal by Ella Patterson.
- Tobin Chambers would get the Shorewomen on the board with 2:38 to go in the quarter on a pass from MaryCate Anson to trim the lead to 5-1.
- The home side would score the final three goals of the first with Emily Crane scoring from Caroline Sullivan with six seconds to go to give the Bullets an 8-1 lead after one.
- Gettysburg outscored Washington 6-3 to take a 14-4 lead into halftime.  Morgan Sutherland, Laubach and Chambers scored for the Shorewomen in that order during the stanza.  Mia Salvatierra chalked up the helper on Laubach's goal.
- In the third quarter, the Bullets outscored the Shorewomen 3-1 to lead 17-5 after 45 minutes.
- Gettysburg held a 3-1 edge in scoring in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin.  Laubach won her milestone draw with 2:25 left in the last draw control of the game.

For The Shorewomen (11-7)
- Scoring: Chambers (two goals), Anson (goal and assist)
- In Goal: McKenna Seashole (45:00, five saves, 17 goals allowed), Emily Markley (15:00, zero saves, three goals allowed)
- Laubach (game-topping 10 draw controls), Anson and Anna Wilson (two ground balls), Maddie Morris (two caused turnovers)
- WC went 13-for-19 in clears, went 3-for-7 in free position shots and had 15 ground balls.
- The Shorewomen, who won 12 draw controls, had one less turnover than the Bullets, 17-16.

For #6 Gettysburg (16-2)
- Scoring: Sullivan (game-highs of six assists and seven points), Basso and Daly (five goals and six points), Crane (three goals and four points)
- In Goal: Gill Cortese (45:00, eight saves, five goals allowed), Juliette Devarenne (15:00, one save, one goal allowed)
- Crane (five draws), Basso (three ground balls) and Lily Macatee (game-best three caused turnovers)
- Gettysburg, who had a 36-24 advantage in shots, had 18 ground balls and won 18 draw controls.
- The Bullets went 21-for-23 in clears and went 2-for-2 in free position chances.

Notes
- With her 10 draws, Laubach totaled 91 draw controls on the season, which is the third most in a single season by a Shorewoman.  Cecily Docktor '19 holds the single-season program mark with 101 in 2019 and Ellie Morrall '23 had 100 last season.
- Laubach and Hubley also share the single-game record for draws with 11.
- The squad's eight seniors this season were Laubach, Morris, Sutherland, Ellie Bossi, Mackenzie Boughey, Ciara Deemer, Ashley Devlin, and Alexis Tackney.  The octet were a part of three Centennial Conference Tournament teams during their four years.  There was no conference tournament in their freshmen year in 2021.
