Shorewomen Score Late to Edge Wolverines in Season Opener, 3-2

Brady Scores Winner from Kilbride in 88th Minute

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Sophomore midfielder/forward Kaileigh Brady (Hockessin, Del./St. Mark's) scored the game-winning goal from sophomore forward Sophie Kilbride (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) with 2:59 to go in the game to give host Washington College a 3-2 win over visiting Grove City, a 2023 NCAA Tournament team, in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday evening.  It was the season opener for both the Wolverines and Shorewomen.

How It Happened
- Brady opened the scoring for the Shorewomen at the 38:32 mark of the first half as she grabbed the rebound of a team save off of a Lindsey Nguyen shot from about 10 yards out to give the home side a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- Kilbride made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute as she received a pass from Amity Harrington and beat the Grove City goalie to the ball and chipped it in from around 25 yards out. 
- The Wolverines would score twice in a span of 5:26 to tie the game at 2-2 with the tying score coming on a penalty kick with 29:11 to go in the second half.
- The score remained tied until Brady's winner as Kilbride dribbled down the middle and passed it to the left where Brady was waiting and placed the shot from about 15 yards out into the center of the net for the winner.
- Grove City was unable to get a shot off to try to tie the game after WC took the lead.

- Scorers: Brady (two goals), Kilbride (goal and assist), Harrington and Nguyen (assist)
- Goalkeepers: Olivia Allen (1 save, 2 goals allowed, 90:00) 
- Totaled 19 shots and five corner kicks for the match. 
- It was the first all-time meeting between the Shorewomen and Wolverines.
- Brady was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.
