Washington College (2-2) 2 #16 Shenandoah (2-2) 1 (OT)
How It Happened
- Early in the second quarter, the Shorewomen were awarded a penalty stroke following a violation by the Hornets in the circle. Esposito placed the shot into the left side of the cage to give the Shorewomen a 1-0 lead 1:48 into the second.
- The lead would beat short lived as Shenandoah tied it with 10:36 to go in the quarter, just 2:36 after Esposito's first tally, to tie it at 1-1.
- WC had all four shots in the fourth quarter, but could not find the back of the net and the game would go into overtime tied.
- In overtime, Washington had all six shots and were awarded a penalty corner with 7:32 to go in the extra frame. The initial shot by
MaryCate Anson went wide, but
Samantha McMahon was able to get the loose ball. Â McMahon's pass then found Thomson, who got the initial hit on the ball before Esposito got the final touch and put it into the empty cage for the walk-off score.
