Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Defeated By Sea Gulls In Three Sets

Chestertown, MD – Washington College Volleyball falls to the undefeated Sea Gulls of Salisbury University Tuesday Night 3-0.

Washington College 0 Salisbury 3

How It Happened

  • The first set was back and forth with kills from Colette Franck and Mary Miller gave the Shorewomen their first two points of the game. It was 5-7 until a kill from Kaysie Lynch brought the Shorewomen within one. The next point was a Salisbury error which tied the score. The Sea Gulls' highest lead of the game was six when they went up 17-11 over the Shorewomen. A Franck kill and Gianna Romano service ace showed that the Shorewomen were not going to let this one go. Kills by Allison McKechnie and Lyndsey Wessel brought the Shorewomen within three, but it was not enough as they lost the first set 25-19.
  • Salisbury got out 12-2 on the Shorewomen until a service error and attack error by the Sea Gulls put their run to an end. It was 12-4, but the Sea Gulls didn't seem to mind the loss of two points as they followed it up with a five-point run, two points off Shorewomen errors. Kills by Logan Kenny, McKechnie, Franck, and Wessel brought the Shorewomen to nine points, but the Sea Gulls were pulling ahead with 21 points. The Sea Gulls pulled off set two 25-14.
  • The third and final set had a closer beginning as the Shorewomen battled it out. Lindsay Saddic earned the first kill of the set for the Shorewomen and earned them their first point on the board. Wessel took the Shorewomen up 2-1 with a kill off a set from Lynch. Salisbury went on a three-point run until it was thwarted by a kill from McKechnie, also from Lynch. The Shorewomen were trailing by four until an attack by Franck got them within three, 9-6. Salisbury would then go on an eight-point run, with a pause in the middle as Saddic laid down a kill and earned the seventh point for the Shorewomen, the Sea Gulls were up 17-7. The Shorewomen got within six as Lynch earned a serving ace moving the score to 18-12. The Sea Gulls won the game out downing the Shorewomen 25-13 in the final set.
