Shorewomen Get Past Cardinals in Five Sets

Saddic Totals Career-Best 16 Kills and Kleinbussink Tallies Personal-High 17 Digs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Visiting Washington College outlasted host Catholic in a 3-2 win (19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 19-25, 15-11) in a non-conference volleyball match on Wednesday night on Franny Murray Court.  The Shorewomen improve to 3-1 overall, while the Cardinals slip to 1-3.

How It Happened
- Leading 16-14 in the opening set, Catholic rolled off four straight points to take a 20-14 lead on an ace.  The Cardinals tallied a kill for the first set clinching point.
- The Shorewomen ended the second set by winning eight of the final 10 points to win 25-17.  An assisted block by Colette Franck and Logan Kenny secured the second set for the road side.    
- Washington never trailed en route to a seven-point win in the third set.  Kenny chalked up her second set clinching block of the match to end the set for the Shorewomen.  The Shorewomen hit .333 in the third set.
- In the fourth set, Catholic allowed the first five points before outscoring WC the rest of the set, 25-14, to force a fifth and decisive set.  An attack miscue by the Shorewomen clinched the fourth for the Cardinals.
- WC, who hit .318 in the decisive fifth set, took a 9-4 lead on an ace by Kenny.  Catholic would cut it to 13-11 before the visitors scored the last two points to win the set and match with Franck getting a block, her second set clinching rejection of the contest, to seal the win.

- Giselle Kleinbussink (13 kills, career-best 17 digs and two aces), Lindsay Saddic (match-best and personal-topping 16 kills), Allison McKechnie (23 assists and two aces), Alexis Stubbs (16 assists and two aces), Franck (11 digs and four blocks), Kenny (seven blocks and two aces)
- Team hit .207 in the contest, totaled 13 rejections and served up 10 aces.
- It was the team's first road win in the series since a four-set triumph in 2014.
