Shorewomen beat out Owls 60-41

Boggs one board short of double-double

Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Women's Basketball Team took down conference opponent Bryn Mawr Wednesday night 60-41. Kaitlyn Boggs was one rebound shy of a double-double as she finished the night with 17 points and nine rebounds.

How It Happened 

  • Abby Meredith scored first for both teams off a Kiersten Rose assist. The score was back and forth until two Karry Kelliher free throws started a 9-4 run for the Shorewomen to end the quarter as they ended up on the Owls 18-11.  
  • Bryn Mawr scored the first two baskets of the second quarter and made their way within three points of the Shorewomen. With six minutes left in the half, Kaitlyn Boogs scored a layup off an Emma Robinson assist to get an 18-4 scoring run started for the Shorewomen to end the half. Boggs and Abby Meredith both scored six points during this run and the Shorewomen led at the half 36-19. 
  • The Owls crept within ten of the Shorewomen with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. An Avery Thomas jumper from Robinson put the Shorewomen ahead 44-32.  
  • Boggs opened the final ten minutes with two made free throws and a layup curtesy of Robinson. Meredith followed that play up with back-to-back baskets of her own. Her first was a made three pointer from Kelliher to put the Shorewomen up 20, 52-32. Twenty seconds later she scored a layup off another Kelliher assist. The Owls scored nine more points, but could not catch the Shorewomen as Washington College remained victorious 60-41.
