Shorewomen Volleyball Sweeps Goucher To Continue Win Streak

Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Volleyball team continues their winning streak with another sweep over Goucher, 25-19, 25-11, and 25-11.

Washington College 3 Goucher 0

How It Happened

  • The first set was back and forth until the Shorewomen began to pull away with back-to-back kills by Izzy Diehl and Lyndsey Wessel, putting them up 12-10. The Shorewomen went on a 5-1 run led by Addison Carr with two kills and Gianna Folke with one. Washington College was up 17-11 before the set returned to back and forth play with neither team scoring two points in a row until Goucher crept within four, 20-16. A kill from Diehl ended their run and the Shorewomen were able to take the first set, 25-19.
  • The Shorewomen started the second set ahead, 6-4. Two kills each from Diehl and Giselle Kleinbussink put the Shorewomen ahead 12-5. Goucher was able to gather three kills among Shorewomen points to move the score to 17-8. Kleinbussink, Emma Shaner, and Kaysie Lynch put down back-to-back-to-back kills to put the Shorewomen up 12, 20-8, forcing Goucher to take a timeout. Goucher was able to score two out of the timeout, but the Shorewomen had an answer as two kills by Diehl and an attack error put the Shorewomen within two of set two, 23-10. Allison McKechnie and Diehl had the final two kills to put away the set, 25-11.
  • It was 8-5 in favor of the Shorewomen to start the third set. Washington College then went on a five-point unanswered run to put them up, 12-5.
