How It Happened

  • The Shorewomen scored the first point of the first set with a kill from Giselle Kleinbussink. The Shorewomen quickly fell behind the Bullets as they went up, 8-2.The Shorewomen could not string points together as they only earned back-to-back points twice in the set. Gettysburg took the first, 25-13.
  • The second set went quite differently for the Shorewomen. They were up 6-4 over the Bullets early. Two offensive errors tied the score at 6-6. The rest of the set went back and forth until the Shorewomen began to pull away, 20-18. Another kill by Kleinbussink and an attack error by the Bullets put the Shorewomen within three of winning the set, 22-18. Kills by Izzy Diehl and Allison McKechnie put the Shorewomen up 24-21. A service error by the Shorewomen gave the ball and momentum back to the Bullets. Gettysburg was able to tie the score, 24-24. Alexis Stubbs recorded a kill to push the Shorewomen up, 25-24, but that would be the last point scored for the Shorewomen as Gettysburg took the second, 27-25.
  • Gettysburg opened up the third set 7-0. Kills by Diehl and McKechnie and three aces by Stubbs put the Shorewomen back in it, 7-6. Gettysburg answered with a seven-point unanswered run, going up 14-6 over the Shorewomen. The rest of the set was even in scoring with Gettysburg outscoring the Shorewomen by one, 13-12. It would be enough for the game as Gettysburg took the third set, 25-19.
