Shorewomen Strand Mules in Four Sets

Team Hits .311 In Victory

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College hit .311 as a team and had four players reach double figures in kills in a 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-21, 25-14) win over visiting Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in a Centennial Conference volleyball match.  The Shorewomen improved to 15-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference, while the Mules are now 8-15 and 0-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- Leading 19-17 in the opening set, the Shorewomen won six of the last seven points for the seven-point win. Emma Shaner started the run with a kill and Alexis Stubbs capped the set with a service ace.
- The Mules held a 17-13 advantage in the second set before rolling off five straight points to lead 22-13 following a hitting error by the Shorewomen. An attack miscue by Washington clinched the second set for Muhlenberg.
- In the third set, Washington led 23-21 before getting kills by Lyndsey Wessel and Izzy Diehl respectively to win the set by four.
- Tied at 2-2 in the fourth set, the home side netted a 10-2 run to take a 12-4 lead on an attack error by the guests. Muhlenberg trimmed the lead to 18-13 before Washington went on a set and match-closing 7-1 run to win by 11 on a hitter miscue by the Mules.

- Gianna Folke (team-high 13 kills), Wessel (10 kills and three blocks), Diehl and Allison McKechnie (10 kills), Alexis Stubbs (career-best 30 assists and three aces), Kaysie Lynch (16 assists), Anna Titter (18 digs to lead all players), Giselle Kleinbussink (10 digs and three assists), Shaner (three rejections)
- Team hit .311 in the contest, notched six rejections and served up six aces.

Notes
- It was Washington's first win in the series since a five-set win in 2021.
