Shorewomen Take Down Green Terror in Four Sets

Washington is 3-1 in CC Play for the First Time Since 1994

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Visiting Washington College topped host McDaniel in a Centennial Conference volleyball match, 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17), on Wednesday night at the Gill Center in a Centennial Conference volleyball match. The Shorewomen improved to 17-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while the Green Terror is now 8-10 and 0-3 respectively. With the victory, the Shorewomen are 3-1 for the first time since 1994, when the squad opened CC play at 5-1.

How It Happened
- Washington gradually pulled away in the first set, leading by as many as 10 points in the nine-point win as Allison McKechnie completed the opening set with a kill.
- In the second set, the Shorewomen led 18-15 following an assisted block by McKechnie and Lyndsey Wessel before the Green Terror rolled off 10 of the last 13 points to take the set by four. The home side clinched the set on a hitting error by the visitors.
- Trailing 3-1 in the third, Washington won five straight points to lead 6-3 on a McKechnie kill and never trailed again. An attack miscue by McDaniel secured the set win for WC.
- Leading 16-14 in the fourth and final set, the Shorewomen rolled off a set and match-clinching 9-3 run to win by eight. Gianna Folke had the honors of registering the final point on a kill.

For The Shorewomen (17-5, 3-1 CC)
- Izzy Diehl (match-best 14 kills), Alexis Stubbs (21 assists), Kaysie Lynch (14 assists), Anna Titter (14 digs), Giselle Kleinbussink (12 digs), Gianna Romano (four aces), Emma Shaner (contest-high five rejections)
- Team hit .194 in the contest, registered eight blocks and recorded nine aces.

Notes
- In addition to the 3-1 conference start, it was also Washington's first four-match winning streak over McDaniel in program history.
