#6 Generals Top Shorewomen, 86-46

Carter-Soriano Nets Team-Best 11 Points for Washington

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – #6 Washington and Lee downed Washington College, 86-46, in the first round of the TowneBank Tipoff Tournament on Saturday evening at TowneBank Arena on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan. The Generals are now 4-0 on the season, while the Shorewomen are 2-2.

How It Happened
- Tied 8-8 with 5:11 left in the first quarter following a Giulia Angeretti layup by the Shorewomen, the Generals would respond with a 20-6 run to close out the opening quarter to lead 28-14 after one.
- Washington and Lee outscored Washington in the second quarter, 20-9, to take a 48-23 lead into halftime. 
- W&L outscored WC 26-7 in the third before the Shorewomen edged the Generals, 16-12, in the fourth for the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (2-2)
- Ellie Carter-Soriano (11 points), Emma Robinson (game-high 17 rebounds)  
- WC shot 27% from the floor (17-for-64), 21% from three-point range (3-for-14) and 53% (9-for-17) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington had 37 boards in the game and turned it over 16 times.

Notes
- In the other game of the tournament on Saturday, host Virginia Wesleyan topped Marymount, 68-54.
