Nalty’s Tour de Force Leads Shoremen to 62-51 Win over Cannoneers

Freshman Sets Career-High with 25 Points, Scoring 12 During Game's Decisive 16-0 Run

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Freshman guard Jon Nalty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) ignited a 16-0 run by visiting Washington College that spanned both halves with 12 of his game-best 25 points that set a personal-high to give the guests the lead the rest of the game in a 62-51 win over host Pratt on Friday night in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Pratt Institute ARC. The Shoremen are 7-0 on the season, while the Cannoneers fall to 6-3.

How It Happened
- Trailing the Cannoneers 20-13 with five minutes to go in the first half, the Shoremen scored the final 14 points of the opening half in the last 4:32 to take a 27-20 lead into halftime. Nalty scored the first 10 points, including the go ahead basket on a conventional three-point play layup to make it 23-20 with 2:34 to go in the stanza. The hoop and harm put the Shoremen ahead for the rest of the contest.
- Ty Woodland netted the final four points of the first half on a pair of layup to give Washington a seven-point halftime edge.
- Nalty would cap the 16-0 run with the first basket of the second half on a jumper to give the Shoremen a 29-20 lead 14 ticks in. The freshman scored 12 of the 16 points during the run.
- Washington took a 45-31 lead, its biggest of the game, before Pratt scored six unanswered to trim the lead to 45-37 with 7:13 left in the game on a free throw.
- Pratt got the lead down to six 57-51 in the final minute following a triple, but Washington made 5-of-6 from the foul line in the 35 ticks to pull away.

For The Shoremen (7-0)
- Nalty (25 points, seven rebounds and four steals to set career-bests in all three categories), Woodland (13 points and two blocks), Nolan Waldon (10 points), Max Portnoy (four assists)
- The Shoremen shot 40% (22-for-55) from the floor, 20% (15-for-24) from three-point range and 63% (15-for-24) from the foul line. 
- Washington grabbed 33 rebounds and had 4 turnovers.
- The Shoremen outscored the Cannoneers in points in the paint (26-24) and points off turnovers (18-9).
- Washington is 7-0 for the first time since 1928-29 when the team opened 10-0.
