CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College scored the game's final 10 runs to win its home opener over visiting Penn State Abington, 12-4, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference baseball game at Athey Baseball Park. The Shoremen are 1-1 on the season, while the Nittany Lions slide to 0-1.

How It Happened
- The Nittany Lions scored three times in the top of the first inning highlighted by a two-run home run that made it 3-0.
- Washington got two back in the last of the first with one away on a bases loaded hit by pitch to
Zach Stolze that scored
Ty Everitt and a sacrifice fly by
Reese Hirsh that chased in
Will Turner.
- Penn State Abington made it 4-2 in the top of the second on a RBI single.
- The Shoremen took the lead for good with a four-run bottom of the fourth inning.Â
Tahir Parker plated
Scooter SanFilippo on a base hit to right with one out to cut the lead to 4-3. Parker would tie the game when he scored on a squeeze bunt by Turner at 4-4. Two hitters later with the bases loaded, Everitt scored on a wild pitch to put the home side ahead for good at 5-4 and Turner would come home on an error to give WC a two-run edge.

Chase Ruppel came home in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out single by Hirsh to make it 7-4 and the next hitter SanFilippo doubled in both Stolze and Hirsh to make it 9-4. All three runs were unearned.
- WC scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth to provide the final margin.
