Shorewomen Burned By Red Devils, 55-51

Carlisle, PA- The Washington College Women's Basketball Team battled back and forth with the Red Devils of Dickinson. The game saw thirteen lead changes, the thirteenth change was in favor of Dickinson as they took the game on a step back three pointer, 55-51.

How It Happened 

  • Kaitlyn Boggs scored the first nine points of the game for the Shorewomen. She battled offensively back and forth with Dickinson, recording four layups and one free throw until Karry Kelliher got involved with a layup of her own seven minutes into the quarter. Dickinson led by two, 14-12, after the first quarter. 
  • Washington College scored ten points to the Red Devils' eight in the second quarter. Kelliher, Boggs, and Emma Robinson each scored a field goal in the quarter. The Shorewomen were up one point, 21-20, with 3:47 left in the half. Kiersten Rose made one free throw to move the Shorewomen lead to two. Dickinson tied the score up, 22-22, before the half concluded with two free throws made.  
  • The Shorewomen started the third quarter out with an 8-2 run started by a three pointer from Abby Meredith. The third quarter was the highest scoring quarter of the day with the Shorewomen scoring 21 as Dickinson scored 16. The Shorewomen led heading into the final ten minutes, 43-38.  
  • Dickinson came out scoring the first four points of the fourth, moving the Shorewomen's score to only one, 43-42. Boggs scored a layup to put the Shorewomen up three with 8:14 left in the quarter.  
  • The next field goal for the Shorewomen came with three minutes left, she tied the score 51-51. Neither team scored until there was 19 seconds left and a Dickinson guard sunk a step back three-pointer to put them up 54-51.
  • Abby Meredith had a driving layup attempt with 11 seconds left in the game, but her attempt was no good. Robinson pulled down the offensive rebound and kicked it out to Kelliher for a three-point shot. Her attempt at tying the score was no good and Dickinson secured the rebound and drew a foul on the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen fell to the Red Devils 55-51.
