Bartow, FL – The Washington College Softball Team falls short on second day of Spring Break contests. They fell to Penn State Behrend and Rhode Island College.
Game 1: Washington College 1 Penn State Behrend 5
How It Happened
- Behrend was able to score in the first inning to go up early on the Shorewomen 1-0.
- Jenna Harper singled to left field in the bottom of the second to be the first Shorewoman on base, but the Shorewomen could not get her home.
- Behrend had an answer scoring twice more in the top of the third to go up 3-0. Shannon Rosche singled as the first batter up in the bottom of the inning, but she was thrown out at second as she was caught trying to steal. Penn State Behrend scored their final runs in the fourth and fifth inning.
- The Shorewomen were able to score once in the bottom of the seventh. Gracelyn Goforth started the inning by doubling to left field. She advanced to third as Rosche forced an error by the shortstop getting her on first. Chloe Trefz hit into a fielder's choice to the shortstop as the next batter. Behrend failed to turn a double play allowing Goforth to score and the Shorewomen were on the board, 5-1.
- The momentum was not enough as the Shorewomen fell, 5-1.

Game 2: Washington College 1 Rhode Island College 4
How It Happened
- The Shorewomen were down 4-0 at the top of the fourth. Nevaeh Unzueta singled to right field to get herself on base. Lilly Cook advanced Unzueta as she grounded out to third base. Jenna Harper singled to left center field allowing Unzueta to score putting the Shorewomen on the board, 4-1.
- Becca Foulk led off the fifth inning with a single to the third baseman. The next batter up, Chloe Trefz singled to right centerfield and moved Foulk to second. The pair were left on base as the next two batters struck out and flied out to right field for the Shorewomen.
- Gracelyn Goforth started the top of the seventh inning with a double to left field. Foulk grounded out to the shortstop, moving Goforth to third. Goforth was left on base as Rhode Island College made a final out and took the game 4-1.
