Shoremen Capture An Early Lead From The Eagles And Take Game, 10-4

Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Baseball Team defeats the Eagles of Eastern in their first contest back at home, 10-4.

How It Happened 

  • The Shoremen gave up a homerun on the first pitch of the game. Chase Ruppel answered with a homerun of his own in the bottom of the first to send him and Ty Everitt home who singled to lead off the inning.  
  • The Shoremen moved the score to 3-1 in the bottom of the second as Matt Lewis singled to second base allowing Scooter SanFilippo to score who led off the inning by being walked.  
  • The Shoremen scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Their first run was scored on a passed ball, an unearned run off an error by the shortstop sent their second run home, and then another passed ball allowed the final two runs of the inning. The Shoremen led, 7-2. 
  • The Shoremen gave up two runs in the top of the sixth. They had an answer with a single run in the bottom of the sixth. Lewis' double to left field was followed by an Everitt double to center field. Lewis was able to score and the Shoremen were up, 8-4.  
  • The Shoremen scored in the bottom of both the seventh and eighth inning as they took the game from the Eagles, 10-4.
