Carlisle, PA – The Washington College Golf Team competed in the Dickinson Invitational. The team finished 15 of 16 and improved round over round by 19 shots.
How It Happened
Round 1: The team finished 55 over, collectively, and beat out Wilson who shot 87 over in round one.
- The Shoremen's best in round one was John Matthai who finished T48, shooting an 81, nine over par.
- Colby Byer finished T68 shooting 14 over with a score of 86.
- Teddy Howard and Matt Young finished T73 shooting 88 respectfully, 16 over.
- And Ben McCumber finished T77 shooting 90, eighteen over.
Round 2: The team finished round two 36 over, still beating out Wilson. The combined score for the Shoremen was 324, 19 shots better than round one.
- The best finisher in round two was Howard who finished six over par shooting a 78 on the day. He shot 10 strokes better than his round one score.
- Byer finished nine over, shooting an 81.
- Matthai finished with 10 over, shooting an 82.
- Young and McCumber each ended round two 11 over, shooting 83 each. McCumber improved his round score by seven strokes.
The Shoremen ended the invitational 15 out of 16 teams. They recorded a total score of 667. Matthai ended the weekend T54, Howard T62, Byer T64, Young T75, and McCumber in 78th place.
