Shoremen Drop Series To Swarthmore

Swarthmore, PA- The Washington College Baseball Team drops game two of series against Swarthmore, 13-6.

How It Happened 

  • Swarthmore scored two runs in the bottom of the second.  
  • The Shoremen had an answer in the top of the third. They scored two unanswered runs, both on wild pitches from the Swarthmore pitcher. Scooter SanFilippo scored after reaching first on an error by the shortstop. Will Turner scored the second run after he was hit by a pitch to put him on base.  
  • Swarthmore scored two more runs in the bottom of the third. 
  • Reese Hirsh walked to get on base in the top of the fourth inning. Alex Dardaris singled in the next at bat advancing Hirsh to second and a fly out moved him to third. Matt O'Connor singled to center field earning an RBI and sending Hirsh home to put the Shoremen within one of Swarthmore, 4-3.  
  • The Garnet put themselves up three in the bottom of the same inning.  
  • Drew Kinsey doubled down the third base line to put him on second in the top of the fifth inning. Chase Ruppel followed his hit up with a single to left field, moving Kinsey to third. Zach Stolze doubled to right center field, sending Kinsey home and putting another run on the board for the Shoremen, 7-4.  
  • Everitt singled to center field to begin the top of the seventh. Turner reached first base on an errant fielder's choice that put two Shoremen runners on the corners. Brady Wozniak sacrifice flied to center field sending both runners home and putting the Shoremen within three, 9-6.  
  • Those would be the last runs the Shoremen would score as they drop to Swarthmore, 13-6.
