CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Franklin & Marshall outscored host Washington College 3-1 in the final two innings to come away with a 7-5 win on Friday afternoon in a Centennial Conference baseball game at Athey Baseball Park. The Diplomats improve to 20-14 overall and 6-6 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen are 18-15 and 4-8 respectively.

How It Happened
- After F&M scored twice in the top of the first inning on a two-run home run to right with two outs, Washington answered with two of its own with two away in the last of the first on a two-run single through the left side by
Zach Stolze that plated
Ty Everitt and
Will Turner.
- The Diplomats retook the lead, 3-2, on a fielder's choice with nobody out in the top of the second and added a run in the top of the fifth on a one-out single for a 4-2 advantage.

Drew Kinsey socked a homer to left to lead off the bottom half of the fifth to trim the lead to 4-3. Two batters later with one away, Stolze went deep over the left-center field fence to even the game at 4-4.Â
- In the top of the eighth, F&M strung together back-to-back one-out run scoring singles to take a 6-4 lead.
- WC answered with one in the last of the eighth on a base hit up the middle by Turner that plated
Matt O'Connor to trim it to one with one away. Turner however was stranded on first as the Diplomats took a 6-5 lead into the ninth.
- F&M scored a run in the top of the ninth on a base hit to right with one out to retake a two-run edge at 7-5.
- In the last of the ninth,
Alex Dardaris worked out a one out walk, but a strikeout and a fly out ended the Shoremen's comeback attempt and the game.
For The Shoremen (18-15, 4-8 CC)
- Hitting: Stolze (2-for-5, three RBI, home run), O'Connor (2-for-4, run), Kinsey (two runs, home run)
- Pitching:
Elias Philiposian (loss 0-1, 1 1/3 innings, two hits, two runs, one earned, zero walks, one strikeout),
Brayden Spurgeon (3 2/3 innings, three hits, one run, one earned, two walks, two strikeouts)
- Washington had seven hits, drew six walks and had three reach on hit by pitch while leaving 12 on base.Â
- The Shoremen made two errors in the game, leading to one unearned run for the Diplomats.
Notes
- Kinsey hit his 18th career home run in the game and is two behind the all-time record at WC, which is held by
Scott Quinn '97 who went deep 20 times.
