#8 Bullets Top Shoremen

Matthews Tallies Three Points for WC

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Host #8 Gettysburg used a five-goal run in the first and second quarters to take the lead for good in a 16-5 win over visiting Washington College on Saturday afternoon on Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium in Centennial Conference men's lacrosse action. The Bullets are now 11-3 on the season and 7-0 in the conference, while the Shoremen are 7-9 and finish the conference slate at 1-7.

How It Happened
- After the Bullets scored the game's opening goal, Parker Barta scored unassisted to tie the game at 1-1 with 12:28 to go in the opening quarter.
- Gettysburg scored the last three of the first stanza to lead 4-1 after one.
- In the second quarter, the Bullets scored the first two before the Shoremen got back-to-back goals by Cam Carrigan and Grant Matthews respectively to cut the lead to 6-3 with 8:55 to go as WC scored twice in 47 seconds.
- The Bullets would respond with the last three of the second to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.
- In the second half, Gettysburg outscored Washington 5-1 in the third and 2-1 in the fourth to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (7-9, 1-7 CC)
- Scoring: Matthews (goal and two assists)
- In Goal: Colin Gray (52:38, 16 goals allowed, 14 saves), Skeet Hine (7:22, zero goals allowed, five saves)
- Ronan Miller (5-for-9 on face-offs and five ground balls) and Cole Wallner (3-for-5 at the X).
- Washington tallied 27 shots, was 18-for-22 in clears in the contest and was 1-for-4 on the man-up.
- The Shoremen had 19 turnovers, while causing seven Gettysburg turnovers.
