Collegeville, PA– Washington College Softball split with Bears of Ursinus. The Shorewomen move to fifth in the conference standings.
Game 1: Washington College 9 Ursinus 5
How It Happened
- Ursinus scored first in the bottom of the first inning to go up 2-0 over the Shorewomen.
- Nevaeh Unzueta led off for the Shorewomen with a bunt to third base. Lilly Cook got on base thanks to a fielder's choice which moved Unzueta to second. Both were able to advance on a wild pitch. A Gracelyn Goforth single up the middle sent Unzueta home followed by a Shannon Rosche sacrifice bunt which sent Cook home and tied the score, 2-2. Chloe Trefz also reached base from a fielder's choice and Mia Mavoides was walked as two more Shorewomen sat on base. Trefz was able to score after Mavoides stole second and the Ursinus catcher overthrew. Julia Weglarz doubled to left center immediately after, allowing Mavoides to score and putting the Shorewomen up, 4-2.
- In the top of the third, Unzueta singled through the right side followed by Goforth singling to the left side advancing Unzueta to second. Right after, Rosche singled to left field sending Unzueta home and putting the Shorewomen up three.
- Ursinus scored two runs in the bottom of the third to move the score, 5-4.
- Mavoides led off the top of the fourth inning with a single to left field. Jenna Harper bunted her in earning the sixth run for the Shorewomen.
- In the top of the sixth, Harper singled to center field. She was batted in by Lilly Wenzel who singled through the left side. The Shorewomen held the lead, 7-4. The Bears of Ursinus scored one run in the bottom of the same inning.
- Trefz singled to left field to get things started for the Shorewomen in the seventh inning. Mavoides tripled to right center field allowing Trefz to score. A sacrifice fly by Weglarz batted in Mavoides and put the final run on the board for either team. The Shorewomen took game one, 9-5.

Game 2: Washington College 4 Ursinus 5
How It Happened
- Mia Mavoides singled to left field in the top of the first inning. Julia Weglarz followed her at bat with a single of her own. Jenna Harper singled up the middle, batting Mavoides in and putting the Shorewomen up 1-0.
- The Bears scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 5-1 on the Shorewomen.
- In the top of the fifth, Shannon Rosche doubled to right center field. She advanced to third on a wild pitch. Mavoides was able to bat her home with a single through the left side. The Shorewomen trailed, 5-2.
- Ursinus scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 8-3.
- Mavoides sat on second in the top of the seventh inning, she scored as Harper hit into left field. Lilly Wenzel homered right after sending her and Harper home and putting the Shorewomen within three, 8-5. The Bears recorded the final out of the inning and took game two.
