SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore took both ends of a Centennial Conference softball doublehead on Tuesday afternoon at Clothier Softball Field. The Garnet won 5-0 in the opener and grabbed game two by a 7-3 score. The Garnet are now 27-9 overall and 13-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 10-24 and 5-9 respectively.
Swarthmore (26-9, 12-1 CC) 5 Washington College (10-23, 5-8 CC) 0 (Game 1)
How It Happened
- Swarthmore took the lead in the last of the first inning on a one-out sacrifice fly to right for a 1-0 lead.
- The Garnet tacked on a pair of two out runs in the last of third on a double steal and a base hit to left for a 3-0 advantage.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the home side added two runs to provide the final margin.
For The Shorewomen (10-23, 5-8 CC)
- Hitting:
Mia Mavoides (2-for-4),
Nevaeh Unzueta (1-for-2, walk)
- Pitching:
Gen Kozub (loss 6-6, five innings, nine runs, five runs, five earned, four walks, one strikeout)
- WC had four hits, drew two walks and had one hit by a pitch, while leaving eight on base.
- The Shorewomen had three errors in the field, but did not lead to a Garnet run.
Swarthmore 7 Washington College 3 (Game 2)
How It Happened
- The Shorewomen scored two unearned runs with two outs in the top of the second for a 2-0 lead. Unzueta scored on an error by the Garnet for the game's first run and two hitters later, Mavoides singled to left to plate
Shannon Rosche for the second run.
- Swarthmore would tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third on a pair of two-out base hits.
- The Garnet would snap the 2-2 tie in the last of the fifth on a two-run homer to left with nobody out and lead 4-2.

Julia Guzman would come home on a two-out error by Swarthmore in the top of the sixth to trim the lead to 4-3.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Swarthmore scored three times to pull away on a one-out error and a two-out, two-run homer to center.
For The Shorewomen (10-24, 5-9 CC)
- Hitting:
Chloe Trefz (3-for-4), Rosche (2-for-3, run),
Julia Weglarz (2-for-4)
- Pitching:
Emmie Meeks (loss 2-9, six innings, 10 hits, seven runs, four earned, two walks, one strikeout)
- Washington had eight hits and worked out three walks, while leaving nine stranded on the basepaths.
- The Shorewomen committed three errors in game two, leading to three runs for the Garnet.
