CHESTER, Pa. – Junior forward
Sophie Kilbride (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) scored the only goal of the game with 3:37 to go in the second half to give visiting Washington College a 1-0 win over host Widener in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday evening at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie Quick Jr. Stadium. It was the season opener for both the Pride and Shorewomen.

How It Happened
- Washington had the opening shot of the contest 16 seconds in by
Maddy Gaydon, but it went wide left.
- Widener had the game's first shot on goal in the 21st minute, by Shorewomen goalie
Olivia Allen made the save.

Grace Morris had the Shorewomen's first shot on goal with 54 ticks before halftime, but it was saved and the Pride had the final shot of the first half, but it was high in the final moments of the stanza.
- In the second half, the Shorewomen had nine of the first 12 shots, but the game remained scoreless with 7:38 left following an off-target attempt by the Pride.
- The Shorewomen would break the scoreless draw in the 87th minute when a clearing attempt by Widener was stolen by WC and Kilbride's shot from about 25 yards slid into the lower left corner for the score.
- With 2:59 to go, Widener had its lone chance to try to tie the game, but the shot was blocked by the WC defense and the clock would expire
